Healing Toys

Play is the young child’s language, and toys are their words. Play helps children make sense of their world, express their feelings, and heal after traumatic events. Play Therapy is the foundation of our work with children. It helps them express their feelings, learn new skills, and work through stress and trauma.

While some children in Kenya can’t personally come to SDI for therapy sessions, we encourage family support therapy. But many families don’t have the toys, books, and materials at home needed during their therapy session to help children express their fears, feelings, and process their trauma.

  • A Simple Solution – Healing Toys trail encourage home play therapy, build resilience through positive child and parent/caregiver/guardian interaction, and help children process trauma during family support therapy sessions.  Toys, Books, and child therapeutic resources guide, create positive relationships, and aid the healing process.
